**PLEASE NOTE: In no way is this intended to be comprehensive minutes of last night’s meeting, my time prohibits that. However, it will be useful tool to keep track of actions agreed by consensus at meeting.
1) POOL HOURS / SEASON SURVEY Agreement to aim for a daily opening schedule with fixed open/close times of 7AM and 7PM across season. Any necessary daily closure periods to be considered in light of usage patterns & survey results. Hours budget currently based on 8hrs/day for 4 month season (which I calculate as approx 6720 hours!).
ACTION: Kirrilly Twomey to re-draft questionnaire in light of discussed changes & distribute to volunteers by email AFTERTHOUGHT: Kirrilly is might be more useful for statistical analysis to gather POSTCODE, rather than Town. In my experience, Census population figures are organised by Postcode... ACTION: FoBP&MP volunteer survey-takers: • Simon Hare – train commuters, and village in 2hour block either afternoon Fri 20th or Wed 25th • Veronica Sumegi • Babette Smith • Other volunteers welcome – please contact Kirrilly direct by email Survey period – Thursday 19 to Wednesday 25 February
2) Volunteer Pool staff ACTION: KT to look into options for local residents to volunteer at Pool. ‘Recognition for volunteer service’ might include free season pass, bronze medallion training, and uniform. Target group to be young local swimmers, especially those intending or doing tertiary studies in Phys. Ed. (UWS Penrith? / CSU Bathurst?) The meeting considered volunteerism to have a range of benefits both for short-staffed Pool & community development. 3) Patronage Generally up, more than 500/day on several recent occasions – e.g. 621 on 6-Jan-09 AFTERTHOUGHT: Kirrilly, can you circulate recent attendance figures to the group? 4) Shade / Safety etc ACTION: KT to report back urgently on lifeguard ‘due diligence’ policy re: line-of -sight to swimmers in difficulties etc.
ACTION: KT to investigate the allocated half dozen portable, pop-up shade devices that have not been seen at BH Pool – where are they?
ACTION: KT to arrange installation of two seat/table/umbrella sets – these to match three in-situ – installed on central bricked triangle.
ACTION: KT & Daniel Long to investigate & report back on options to relocate extant blue shade-sail so that just HALF of the Toddlers pool is shaded; effectively creating a shaded seating area and raising temperature of Toddlers pool via direct sunlight. Two options discussed were either 2 metres to west (fence line) or to south (central bricked area).
ACTION: KT to organise re-allocation of rubbish bins around site perimeter. 5) BLOG ACTION: ALL please visit FoBP&MP online at http://friendsofblackheathpool.blogspot.com/ your feedback welcome.
